10th IAS Conference on HIV Science | 21-24 July 2019 | Mexico City, Mexico

Engagement tours to the Clínica Especializada Condesa

The Engagement Tours provide delegates with unique learning experiences through interactive site visits to local community-based organizations in Mexico City. The goal is to exchange knowledge, best practices, successes, challenges, and innovative solutions through dialogue and hands-on activities.

Tours are available to conference delegates at no cost. Registration will take place on a first-come, first-served basis. Tours are limited to one per delegate.

Mexico City supports people living with HIV through the Clínica Especializada Condesa (Clínica Condesa), which has been active for 20 years. In 2018, the clinic found, via testing, 4,397 people living with HIV. It works with the Clínica Especializada Condesa Iztapalapa, set up in 2015 with the same operating model, to offer antiretroviral treatment to 15,000 people living with HIV.

The Clínica Condesa offers a comprehensive HIV prevention programme, including condom distribution and pre- and post-exposure prophylaxis. It provides differentiated service delivery to key and vulnerable populations, such as adolescent girls and young women, men who have sex with men, transgender people, undocumented immigrants, people who use drugs, prisoners and victims of sexual abuse.

The Clínica Condesa collaborates with civil society organizations to foster adherence to HIV treatment and to promote the human rights of people living with HIV
